Plot[]
At a charity event, a reformed junkie running an ice cream truck gets a package dropped off by an African man who then disappears. The boy's cell phones then rings. When he answers, there is a strange noise. He then pulls a gun out of the package and advances on a podium where Senator Charles Irving is about to give his speech. A bystander notices his gun and the Senator's security detail guns the boy down.
At Birkhoff's home, Michael shows Nikita and Birkhoff news of the attack. Since the news depicts the boy having gone into a trance, Michael guesses that P9, an old Oversight program designed to condition sleeper agents, but destroyed by Division under the pretense of an FBI raid on a cult, has come back. He insists that they check this out, though Nikita is unwilling to abandon their contact in Lisbon. Nonetheless, Nikita decides to accompany him to the former sight of P9. There, they encounter Owen Elliot. Word of P9 reaches Division. Amanda sends a recovering Alex to see Percy. In parallel with Owen talking with Nikita and Michael, it is revealed that Percy dispatched a team of cleaners, including Owen to kill all P9 subjects, except for the project mastermind, Dr. Joseph Mars, also creator of the Regimen drug. Owen succeeded in his mission before Mars could recover his research. In the present, it is shown that the safe where Mars kept his research is already emptied. And Percy tells Alex that Mars disappeared off the map. Elsewhere, the same African man approaches Mars to see if he has another sleeper ready for assassination. The latter confirms out of his many subjects, he has one on site. Nikita, Michael and Owen attend another charity ball to prevent another assassination. Unfortunately, as Alex is there as well. Soon, a red-haired woman is fed the same noise on her Bluetooth. She then pulls out a gun out of her purse, and advances on her target. Alex is forced to tackle the Senator to save his life while Nikita disables the sleeper. Bringing the sleeper, named Alisha, back to Birkhoff's, she is shown that she was already caught on camera, she has been framed as a potential assassin. When questioned by Nikita, Alisha reveals that she's been attending a clinic helping drug addicts, run by a Dr. Frances, Mars' alias, using headphones to "help" their clients. While Nikita, Michael and Owen are out, Birkhoff and Alisha begin connecting due to their knowledge of computers. Meanwhile, Sean finds Alex in prison. He berates for failing to kill Nikita when she had her in her sights. But for saving the Senators, he lets her out. Nikita goes into Mars' clinic, disguised a junkie and finds the room where he is conditioning many of his subjects. Unfortunately, Mars catches him and figures that she's Division and that Percy sent her. Michael and Owen, waiting in a car outside, phone Birkhoff to help guide them through the clinic. But their entrance does not go unnoticed, as Mars' guards bar their path. By the time they get to Nikita, she has already captured Mars. Owen then tries forcing him into giving all the data on the Regimen. But instead, Mars activates his sleeper, though they haven't been given any orders. However, Alisha, hearing this over the live feed from the safehouse, is triggered and knocks out Birkhoff before leaving to finish her standing orders. Back at the clinic, Mars attempts to make a run for it, but gets shot in the confusion. Owen asks Nikita and Michael to go stop Alisha, while he stays and "cleans" the clinic to look presentable to the authorities. As they race to track down Alisha, Nikita and Michael discuss why she would go after Irving again when he's got a high security detail. They then realizes that the senator is not the target, but one of his planners, a woman named Cathy, who has stakes in Venezuelan oil. Birkhoff finds Alisha just as she is attacking her target's house. He tries to make her fight her programming, but she instead turns her rifle on him, forcing him to take cover. Luckily, Nikita arrives and knocks Alisha out. Back at Birkhoff's, news of Mars' work is exposed and all of his subjects are being deprogrammed, as well Alisha's name being cleared. Owen shows his comrades the USB containing data on the Regimen. Though it may take him some time to wean off the drug, he,ll use that time to track down the remaining Guardians and their black boxes. At Division, Alex looks up Sergei Semak, the man who ordered her family's death, when Sean comes by her. He relates when he was a Navy SEAL, he had the chance to kill his partner to prevent his capture and subsequent torture. But he hesitated and the consequences were excruciating. He advises her to pull the trigger against Nikita, stating Oversight will show her no mercy when they get their hands on her. Owen is soon shown in a meeting with Ari Tasarov, having arranged a partnership; Gogol will help him locate the remaining Black Boxes before killing Percy. However, he warns Ari not to move against Nikita or he'll kill him. |
