The Hemoplasmic Nano-toxin under a Division microscope.
Hemoplasmic Nano-toxin (alias Nanotoxin or Nanovirus) is an advanced version of the kill chip created by The Invisible Hand, on the grounds of the latter's impracticality that it first has to be implanted, via surgery, into the recipient. With this, the target needs only to be injected and then later exposed to a certain calibrated signal frequency to trigger the demise.
Applications[]
It enters the body through various methods:
- Injected
- Scratch from an infected sharp object
- Carbon bone fiber
Once it's in the body, it blends in with the blood cells and is hard to spot unless you know what you're looking for. It will lie dormant but self-propagating until it's activated by a microwave signal that can penetrate even a bomb shelter (i.e. Division's underground Headquarters) which would result in the blood cells within the host's body to literally explode from within and that individual to die by severe internal hemorrhaging causing their eyes to bulge and redden into a bloodshot state, and quantities of blood flooding or spraying out of their bodily orifices as the subject spasms and convulses. Furthermore, the emission that triggers it can be attuned to unprecedented accuracy killing a specific target even when there's more than one in the general area of where the mcrowave focused upon, as seen twice with Michael who, despite having the nano-toxin in his bloodstream, was spared when both Tolcher and Kang were killed in that manner, despite both cases wherein he was practically in close proximity of the two victims. However, the nano-toxin establishes a kind of symbiotic relationship with the host it infects; and it that host dies, it could compromise the substance's ability to propagate and multiply within its recipient.
Treatment[]
There's only two known ways to combat the nanovirus:
- An antidote
- Death of the host body for at least 20 minutes
