Looking Glass is the fifth episode of Season Two and the twenty-seventh episode overall.
Summary[]
Michael discovers Cassandra, a woman he once romanced under Division orders, is in danger. Feeling guilty for how things ended, he wants to help her but Nikita suspects there is more to it than easing his conscience. Amanda manipulates Alex into helping her on a mission but Sean gets caught in Amanda's web of lies and begins to doubt Division's true motives.

| Six years ago in Belarus, Michael is on an undercover mission, romancing a woman named Cassandra. But he soon reveals his true identity to her and asks for her assistance in neutralizing Belarusian president Valeri Ovechkin, her husband.
In the present, it is reported on the news that Ovechkin's personal assistant is executed for treason. However, Michael knows the truth. According to Operation: Looking Glass on the black box, Division killed the real Ovechkin before replacing him with a double. Only now has he decided to go rogue and try to be a world leader. Michael insists that they head to Belarus to help Cassandra. And he has to admit to Nikita that he once romanced Cassandra. In Percy 's prison, Amanda has gone to see him, guessing that Ovechkin only takes orders from him, not her. And he's ready to kill his bodyguard, besides his assistant, because they know of the switch. She tries convincing Percy to help reel in his puppet but he is uninterested in helping. At Division, Alex approaches Amanda for Sonia's assistance in monitoring Zetrov channels. She agrees, but demands that she assassinate Ovechkin in return. However, Alex continues to refuse any Division assignments not related to Semak. Therefore, a Division agent named Lisa volunteers to go. Sean follows Alex, trying to reminding her that revenge isn't everything. In Minsk, Belarus, Nikita poses as proxy to an art buyer and outbids Cassandra, discreetly tricking her into meeting Michael. But it gets a bit tricky when Michael and Nikita learn that Cassandra has a 4-year-old son, Max . Cassandra claims her son is Ovechkin's, who is kept secret from his enemies. She insists that she already had a plan to escape Ovechkin and Michael would only interfere. Seeing Cassandra with her son, Michael has flashbacks of his own daughter, who was the same age as Max when she and Michael's wife were killed in an explosion meant for him. Meanwhile, Lisa gets captured by a random border patrol and Sean is furious when Amanda will not arrange a rescue mission. Sean decides to take matters into his own hands, declaring, "You never leave a man behind!" and Alex volunteers to help him, since she declined the mission. Back in Minsk, Michael asks Birkhoff why he didn't tell him about Max. Birkhoff sarcastically comments that he'll recalibrate Cerebro to search for kids who may or may not exist. As soon as he signed off, Nikita asks Michael about that night, when he said he was avenging his family, when he was really with Cassandra. He admits that the man who slept with Cassandra was different. Birkhoff signs back on to update the two on Belarus' tight-lipped media, for it is not public knowledge that the Ovechkins have a son, passing him off as the child of his nanny. Unfortunately, he has no way to tell how old he is. Michael realizes that Max is four-years old, the same age as his daughter Haley. Meanwhile, Ovechkin has found out about Cassandra's intended travel plan to Paris and refused her request to take Max with her. Cassandra asks Ovechkin why he is disobeying Division now. He responds that he's not taking orders from anyone but Percy and intends to build his legacy with his son. With her original plan in ruins, Cassandra arranges a meeting with Michael, under the guise of a renegotiation of the auction, to ask for his help. She passes him her schedule, before hugging him. The duo plan on extracting both Cassandra and Max during their respective salon and piano lessons. They first sabotage the arrival of Cassandra's manicurists and massage therapist so Michael can get to her. Birkhoff distracts the piano teacher on the phone while Nikita gets Max out the window. But as Max does not cooperate, they are forced to abort before Cassandra's bodyguard Volkov is any the wiser. Concluding that killing Ovechkin would set off alarm bells to lock down the whole country, they need a new plan Meanwhile, Ovechkin is interrogating Lisa as to who she works for. He then receives a call from Amanda, who demands the release of her agent, intentionally botching her rescue by tricking him into killing Lisa so that Alex and Sean would complete the mission for her. Alex and Sean arrive moments too late. Sean decides they must kill Ovechkin in order to send a message that no one should mess with their people. They make a second plan to extract the pair during a party Ovechkin is hosting, by sneaking them into Ovechkin's personal car, which can get past all security checkpoints. Unfortunately, Sean intends to bomb the car to take out Ovechkin. Amanda goes down to see Percy, this time bringing a fresh suit, to bribe him into helping. As they get into their waiters disguises, Nikita reminds Michael that Cassandra and Max are not his family, nor did he fail them. At the party, Alex makes contact with Ovechkin, using a code from Percy to peak his attention to get him to his car once Sean gives an all-clear. Michael gets to Cassandra after snapping Volkov's neck. But once again, Max throws a wrench into their back-up plan when he alerts his guardian to the fact that someone is coming to take him and his mother away. Nikita is forced to fight the nanny, Rosa, in the dark, before killing her and extracting Max. Unfortunately, Ovechkin is delayed in getting to said car, but the same cannot be said for Cassandra and her son. Sean assumes Ovechkin to be in the car and arms the bomb. Birkhoff detects the bomb's frequency and warns his friends. Once again, Michael has to watch as a car explodes with people he cares about trapped inside. But events play out differently this time around and Nikita is able to get Cassandra and Max out of the car before the explosion. Inside the mansion, the bombing is heard and Ovechkin grabs Alex, demanding to know who she works for, right in the same room where Volkov's body is. Sean ambushes him, and manages to choke Ovechkin to death and shoots both his and Volkov's body, making it look like Volkov was responsible before committing suicide. As people file out of the mansion, Cassandra and Max walk up to meet the Belarusian officials. But before they could detain her on the president's orders, his death is announced. Cassandra quickly adapts and bluffs that Volkov was the traitor her husband was looking for before making a rallying speech to her people. Meanwhile, Percy puts on his new suit and says, "It's a start." In the episode's final moments, Nikita and Cassandra talk about a conversation Nikita had with Max. As it turns out, Cassandra lied about her son's age and Nikita figured out that Michael is really Max's father. Cassandra tells Nikita that her son will be in danger if anyone learns that Michael is his father, but she leaves the decision of whether or not to tell Michael the truth about Max in Nikita's hands. |
